C-139 Basin & Water Protection
The C-139 Basin drains into the Everglades. We advocate for water quality monitoring and responsible land use.
Problem Overview
The C-139 Basin is a regulated watershed that flows into Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades. Residents have a direct stake in how water is managed and what enters our shared aquifer.
Why It Matters
Clean water protects drinking wells, agriculture, wildlife, and downstream communities. Once an aquifer is contaminated it is nearly impossible to restore.
What Residents Can Do
- Read SFWMD basin reports
- Submit public comment on permit applications
- Support independent water testing
