Rainwater Harvesting
Free water from the sky — for gardens, livestock, and emergencies.
Montura gets 50+ inches of rain a year. A 1,000-square-foot roof captures over 600 gallons from a single inch of rain. Catching it cuts your well pump load, gives plants soft chlorine-free water, and builds emergency reserves.

Catchment sizing, first-flush, storage, and irrigation from your roof.
Basic Setup
Gutters → first-flush diverter → screened inlet → food-grade tank or IBC tote (275 gal) → spigot or pump. Cover tightly to block mosquitoes and sun.
Sizing
Roof sq ft × rainfall inches × 0.62 = gallons captured. A 2,000 sq ft roof in Montura can capture 60,000+ gallons per year.
Uses & Rules
Garden irrigation, livestock water, washing equipment, emergency flush water. Florida does NOT require a permit for rainwater catchment — collect freely.
