Bring Back the Montura Rodeo
Not a memory. A real event — back in the arena, back in our calendar.
For many longtime residents, the Montura Rodeo was one of the biggest weekends of the year. It filled the arena with families, riders, horses, music, food, and pride. What if we brought it back — not as a story about the good old days, but as a living tradition the next generation gets to grow up with?
What the Rodeo Meant to Montura
Kids riding for the first time in front of a crowd. Neighbors leaning on the rail, swapping stories between events. The smell of dust, leather, and grills going. The Montura Rodeo wasn't just an event — it was the night the whole community showed up in one place. People who grew up here still talk about it. That kind of memory doesn't fade. It just waits for someone to bring it back.
Why It Can Happen Again
Everything we need is already here. Montura has a deep ranching heritage, working horse families, riders of every age, open land, local businesses ready to sponsor, and an arena culture that never really went away. We don't have to invent a rodeo from scratch — we have to organize what already exists. Other small South Florida towns put on rodeos every year. There is no reason Montura can't.
More Than a Weekend
A returning rodeo can be a signature South Florida tradition again — a draw for visitors, a boost for local feed stores, food vendors, ranches, and trailer shops, and a stage where young riders from Montura get to compete in front of their own community. Barrel racing, roping, mutton bustin' for the kids, a grand entry with flags and horses, wagons and buggies down the road, music after — the whole package.
It Starts With Us
This will take volunteers, sponsors, ranchers, horse owners, sound and lights people, vendors, and a few organizers willing to lead. If any of that is you, sign up below. The interest is already here — the only question is whether we're ready to make it happen.
A Tradition Worth Bringing Back
Dust in the lights. Hooves on packed dirt. Bleachers full of neighbors. This is what Montura used to feel like every rodeo weekend.
