Water Testing
Where to get your well or surface water tested in Hendry County.
If you're on a private well, you are your own water utility. Annual testing is the only way to know your water is safe. Free and low-cost options are available.

Where to Get Tested
SWFL Water Testing serves Hendry County and surrounding areas with certified well water testing — bacteria, nitrates, metals, and full panels. Visit their site to book a test or request a sample kit. The Florida Department of Health in Hendry County can also direct you to state-certified labs and offers bacteriological testing for private wells.

What to Test For
At minimum, test annually for total coliform bacteria and nitrates. Every 2–3 years, run a full panel that includes iron, manganese, hardness, pH, sulfates, chlorides, and arsenic. If you live near agricultural operations, add pesticides and herbicides. After any flood, well repair, or new pump install, retest before drinking.

How Often to Test
Annual testing is the baseline for every private well. Test sooner if you notice a change in taste, color, or smell; if anyone in the household gets recurring stomach issues; after hurricanes or flooding; or any time the well, pump, or pressure tank is serviced or replaced.
